The Mystery Blogger Award BEST COVER__PNG1

GREETINGS PEASANTS!

The Proud and Prejudiced Book Thieves are officially back from hiatus. Hopefully we’ll be able to do a post a week for the next couple of months, but we make no promises. Because WHY WOULD WE BOTHER BLOGGING WHEN WE COULD BE OBSESSING OVER THE IMMINENT RELEASE OF THE LAST JEDI AND THE POSSIBILITY OF REYLO BECOMING CANON—er, that is, we are so glad to be back to posting interesting, intellectual content and enriching the blogosphere with our controversial opinions. Ahem.

  • I have nicknamed the dog Darth Sidius because he is obviously an evil turd.

Sith Lord in Training who will one day Rule the Galaxy with his fuzziness.
  • I can do a very good impersonation of Korg from Thor: Ragnorak.

  • I don’t care that Anakin killed a bunch of kids in Revenge of the Sith, he’s still adorable!!!!!

  • My novel currently has 67,000 thousand words (TRIUMPH) and I am just barely at the midpoint. I FEEL AS IF I AM IN A DARK TUNNEL FROM WHICH THERE IS NO ESCAPE AND I AM SLOWLY DROWNING IN MY OWN MIND. Quoth the raven, peasants.
  • I hate high school.

  • I am in the middle of reading Jane Eyre, and I am just finally getting into it. Mr. Rochester is appropriately cynical and sassy. Alas, alas, he will never live up to Heathcliff’s majestic standards (because it takes a MAN to dig up his dead girlfriend’s grave and spend an entire night sleeping next to her skeleton) …shhh, nevermind, that was a joke.

The Mystery Blogger Award AC QUESTIONS__PNG

1. What is your favorite pair of socks? Can you show us a picture?

Hermione: There is one beautifully fuzzy pair of socks that I have that I got for Christmas last year. I was wearing them when it was like 4:30 a.m. and I was lying in bed and watching parts of The Breakfast Club on YouTube and I got really obsessed with it for a while. I cannae do a picture because I actually can’t find those particular socks right now, so…there’s that.

Clara: My favorite socks are my Sith Lord footies because I feel evil and rebellious whilst wearing them. The urge to grab random people and whisper “Come to the dark siiiiiiiddddeee” is almost overwhelming.

2. Star Trek or Star Wars?

Hermione: Probably Star Wars, just because I’ve never watched any of the original Star Trek series, and while the reboots were okay, they weren’t the greatest things in the world. I’m not really into sci-fi for the sake of sci-fi—I like interesting, well-written characters, and I’ll take whatever medium I can get them in, whether that be contemporary or fantasy or sci-fi. And on the whole, I’ve found the Star Wars characters to have more potential…yes, the screenplay for the prequels was awful, but at least it’s a conversation starter. And all of the Star Wars characters would be interesting to House, while I think the Star Trek characters are considerably more stereotypical and have less nuances/idiosyncrasies that make for a good character discussion (I mean, Kirk=obvious Gryffindor. Spock=obvious Ravenclaw. But Anakin Skywalker? He’s a little harder to pin-down, character wise).

Clara: I would have to go with Star Wars. I’m a die-hard fan of the old Star Treks, but I feel like Star Wars had a more engaging plot. And William Shatner wasn’t really a great actor either, though he wasn’t nearly as bad as Hayden Christensen from the prequels. Also Star Wars just had more hot and interesting characters. I would much rather watch Young Obi-Wan and Anakin and Han Solo and Luke and Kylo Ren than Spock. I’m just saying.

3. Are you an outdoors person?

Hermione: Yes and no? I appreciate nature and being outside and going on walks and all that, but I am much more comfortable INSIDE with my books and my maps. Clara and I are basically Hobbits.

12345.gif

Clara: I like the idea of being an outdoors person, but the actual outdoors comes with nasty things like bug and spiky plants…. so, no.

4. What is your opinion on Lost?

Hermione: Never seen it. Probably never will.

Clara: I watched a little but I found it kind of prosaic and overly sexual.

5. If you could meet one author and could only say one sentence to him/her, who would it be, and what would you say?

Hermione: OH, RICK RIORDAN, no questions asked. I’d ask him WHY ON EARTH HE MADE NICO DI ANGELO INTO A HOMOSEXUAL because it was completely illogical, and it did not at all fit Nico’s character and it was only done for the sake of being politically correct. Emo culture is already kind of screwed up, but do you really have to shove the gay thing in there too, just for the sake of “diversity”? Really, Rick? REALLY?!

Clara: Emily Bronte. WHAT CRUEL PERSON CREATES THE HOTNESS THAT IS HEATHCLIFF AND MAKES YOU WATCH IN AGONY AS HE PINES AWAY FOR HIS JERKY SOULMATE AND THEN DIE AND WHY EMILY WHY COULDN’T YOU GIVE HEATHCLIFF A HAPPY ENDING BECAUSE HE WAS SO HOT AND PRECIOUS AND THE BEST BOOK CHARACTER EVER. (I’m sorry, Percy…)

AAAAHHHHHHH YOU’RE BAAACCCKKK!!!!!!! *Tackle hugs* I LOVED THIS POST SO MUCH I’M SQUEAKING.
Oh my goodness, I will come and yell at Rick with you.
Thank you soooo much for the nomination ❤
(Also, I totally lowkey ship Reylo because I am a fan of people realizing their worldviews are screwed up and another person coming along and showing them what the light looks like.)
(Or you know, compromising and being in the middle and starting a force using gang. That would be cool too.)

    1. YASSSS HELLO HELLO HELLO. AND oh my goodness I SO want a force using gang. I want to be IN it. And those are totally the best kind of ships, I agree. I’ve always kind of liked the ying and yang thing. Thanks so much for the comment!❤

      2. OH MY WORD. Loved your Anakin appreciation post. I felt rather dead inside when I finished Revenge of the Sith, so I RELATE. Also his hair is gorgeous, so it makes his “death” all the more tragic. 😜

  3. Ha, ha, who doesn’t hate school? I am with you there. I love Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights! But I am sorry to say I was not impressed with Heathcliff. In fact I have strong feelings about Heathcliff in a rather negative direction, but I won’t go into that. You are welcome to despise me, I don’t mind.
I AM A HOBBIT TOO. I love peace and quiet and food. And I prefer to experience adventures from the comfort of my own home rather than traipsing off into danger. I relate to Bilbo so much.
The next Star Wars movie is indeed cause for great anticipation. I don’t know if I should be excited or terrified. Probably both.
Fun post! Thank you so much for following my blog!

    1. Yeah, of course! Thanks for the comment! And I totally get where you’re coming from with Heathcliff. He’s an easy character to romanticize, but the moment you look at his character and actions through any sort of critical, pragmatic lenses, he’s really quite disturbing. I think it’s the juxtaposition between this aspect of him and the implied-yet-nonexistent Romanticism of the novel that makes him such a fascinating character. But ANYWAY.

And yes, I agree with you on Star Wars. My emotions are NOT READY. But apparently critics loved it, and I’m sure it will be breathtakingly good. Just also, you know, HEARTRENDING.
